What a great initiative by indigenous actor Jenifer Brousseau with support of the Dutch Consulate General Vancouver to read Anne Frank’s Diary marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands.

In the midst of COVID19 social isolation, youth are being invited to connect to stories of other youth doing incredible things. A new online book reading series kicks off with Anne Frank’s Diary of a Young Girl through daily video steams featuring Jenifer Brousseau, from APTN TV in Canada.

The month-long web series goes live at www.jeniferreads.com on May 4, an important day in the Dutch calendar with Dodenherdenking, as we remember lives lost in World War II. Partners in the timely project include the Vancouver Public Library and Vancouver Park Board who are seeking ways to connect with youth during the COVID19 social distancing measures. One hundred East Vancouver youth will receive Anne Frank’s much-read Diary in food hampers and from youth workers courtesy of the Consulate of the Netherlands in Vancouver. Starting May 4 youth will be invited to interact online, share their own experiences coping with isolation, and engage with Jenifer and her special guests.
