Thursday, February 9th: CAANS Jaarvergadering,  1099 Sitka Square, Vancouver. De zaal gaat open om 7 uur en we beginnen precies om 7.30 met de vergadering, zodat we om 8 uur met het “culturele” (en leukere) gedeelte van de avond kunnen beginnen. Het culturele gedeelte bestaat, zoals de laatste jaren gebruikelijk was, uit het vertonen van een Nederlandse video, met name een documentaire  gemaakt ter gelegenheid van de 40ste verjaardag van Prinses Maxima in mei 2010. De koffie met koekjes en de wijn staan klaar.

Tuesday, February 21st: Vancouver Borrelavond. We will be meeting for drinks, snacks (or dinner), and lively Dutch conversation from 8pm to 10pm (or later) at the Wicklow Pub (604-879-0821). We are usually upstairs with a beautiful view overlooking Heather Street Marina. The pub is located at 610 Stamps Landing in False Creek on the water's edge beside the Monk McQueen's Restaurant. Take the Moberly Street exit off 6th Avenue just west of the Cambie Street Bridge. Parking is $1 per hour and the lot is a 2 minute walk south of the pub. Saturday, February 25th: North Surrey Klaverjas Card Club, 6:30pm to 10:30pm in the Party Room at 15038 - 101st Avenue, Surrey. Someone will be in the Lobby from 6:30pm to 6:50pm to let you into this high rise building. Please be on time as there will not be anyone in lobby to let you in after 6:50pm and we would like to start playing at 7pm sharp. Edie will be teaching how to play the game at a special table set up for those of you that are still learning. Saturday, March (Date TBA), 2012: Klaverjas Tournament & Games Social (venue TBA).  Registration and payment at the door will be from 11am to 11:45am.  Bring your own lunch. Three card games will be played from 12pm to 3pm.There will be many great prizes which will be awarded at 3:30pm. There will also be a teaching table for those that would like to learn to play Klaverjas. For those that do not wish to play cards, Banana Grams (similar to Scrabble) will be played at another table. NAJM Members $15, Non-Members $20.

Sunday, April (Date TBA), 2012: Dutch Family Pot-Luck Lunch and Easter Egg Hunt (Venue TBA). Each family should bring their own bag of eggs (to hide) as well as a dish of food and a beverage to share for the Pot-Luck lunch. There will also be some crafts for the children, so we will need to know how many children (and what age) and how many adults will be attending. Saturday, May 26th & 27th, 2012: Come to the 15th Annual European Festival and savor the flavours of Europe right at your doorstep. Join in on the 15 hours of family fun, from 10am in the morning to 1am at night in Burnaby (Venue TBA). See the swirling flags and colourful costumes in the Opening Ceremony parade; non-stop Stage performances; relax in the Food Tent & Beer Garden; Children's Tent activities; 30 Cultural Display booths; & the MarketPlace Tent. In the evening, dance up a storm to energetic songs inside the Centre.

Saturday & Sunday, (Date TBA), July 2012: Fusion Festival, 11am to 10pm, Holland Park in NW Surrey. Located by King George Sky-train station & Central City Shopping Mall, on the SW corner of King George Highway and Old Yale Road. Enjoy two days of international food and music. Admission is free. Tako Slump of the Holland Shopping Centre will have a Dutch Food Booth and be selling some Dutch Cultural items such as ceramics as well. At 2pm on Saturday a choir will sing 5 popular Dutch songs at the Dutch Cultural Booth. Altogether thirty-five countries will be on display. Saturday (Date TBA) October 2012: Enjoy a Lunch Buffet with Horse Racing Entertainment, 12:30pm to 4:30pm, at Fraser Downs in Cloverdale, Surrey. This is an event that the whole family can enjoy. There are floor to ceiling windows and each table in the "Homestretch" dinning area also has an individual small TV screen to see the horses even closer. Doors open: 12:00pm. Buffett: 12:30pm to 2:30pm, includes salad bar, hot dishes, roast meat, and an array of desserts. Races take place from 1:15pm to 4:30pm. Watch 9 to 12 live exciting horse races and place a wager if you feel so inclined.

$30 per person includes the buffet, one beverage (tea, coffee, juice, or pop), 2 programs per table to share, tip & HST.

Admission for children, 10 years or younger is $15 each. Reservations and pre-payment are required.

Saturday, (TBA): November 2012 Sint Nicolass Dutch Dinner & Dance at the Scandinavian Centre, 6540 Thomas Street in Burnaby. Doors open at 5:30pm, Dinner at 6:30pm, Dancing from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. There will be a delicious "all you can eat" Buffet Dinner of Salmon, Chicken, & Roast Beef and much more! Kick up your heels on the dance floor or just sit back and enjoy great melodies by Peter Vanderhorst's Band.

NAJM Members: $35 per person; Non-Members: $50 per person. Everyone is Welcome!  Reservations and pre-payment are required.
